Therapy

Picture
I am a diversity-friendly, holistic counsellor and therapist with a background in climate justice and social change. I believe that working on ourselves is a deeply courageous journey, and so I view my role as part of that journey with another human being as an immense honour and privilege.

The therapeutic approach I am trained in is informed by Process-Oriented Psychology (aka Process Work), a liberation psychology, and deeply non-pathologising approach, which brings together wisdom and practices from Jungian psychology, person-centred therapy, Internal Family systems, Taoism, communications and systems theory, indigenous wisdom and quantum physics. Process Workers work not only at the individual therapeutic level, but also with groups and on systemic change, including large-scale conflict transformation.

I work with and welcome people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, with a particular focus on supporting those navigating complex trauma, climate grief, burnout, chronic illness and disability, diverse gender experiences, and those working on systemic injustice and social change processes.

I am deeply committed to my own learning, and inner work to build greater self-awareness and compassion for others. As such, I am engaged in my own ongoing therapy, receive clinical supervision and undertake regular professional development.

My current rates: $130 AUD per 55 minute session.

What some of my clients say about our work together:

"Charlie is a phenomenal therapist! During our sessions, I feel incredibly supported and understood. Charlie listens intently and we often uncover things I didn't even realise were causing me grief. The strategies Charlie provides are unlike any other psychological intervention I've ever experienced. I have seen a lot of psychologists, but never have I ever come away with strategies that are profoundly helpful, actionable and truly make a difference. The parts work Charlie and I do in sessions is just so incredible and I always come away from sessions feeling like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I absolutely love being a client of Charlie's."

"In just a few short sessions, Charlie has helped me to gain deeper insight and understanding of my life and my past. Using embodied practices and deepening my capacity to relate constructively to suffering, old wounds, and present painful situations in the wider world. Charlie is warm, friendly, and deeply connected to movements for justice, which creates real space to unpack and work through burnout, climate grief, and to find healthy ways to process the many interlinked crises of our time."

"Charlie really suits the role of a counsellor. They offer personalised tips and ears to listen without judgement. They are understanding when I forget appointments, and patient when I struggle to do the tasks set out. It's also really nice having an experienced activist as a counsellor, they understand activism related issues and feelings."

"I am grateful to Charlie for helping me work through a number of difficulties and challenges which had me under immense stress. They were the first person to articulate that I am highly sensitive and this has helped me to understand myself and the way I experience things much better."
