About

Picture
I am an organiser, facilitator, trainer, campaigner and therapist. I’ve spent the past fifteen years, deeply involved in the climate justice movement. I’ve helped to start and grow some of the largest grassroots movements on climate change, including the fossil fuel divestment movement, #StopAdani and School Strike 4 Climate. I am a co-founder of Tipping Point, former campaigns director at 350.org Australia and was a climate advisor in Parliament. I am currently the interim social movements director at The Sunrise Project Australia.

Outside of activism, I have worked as a research advisor on responsive regulation, peace and restorative justice, a
tutor with children, an illustrator and a soccer referee. I love to write poetry, run, spend time in nature with friends, and learn from new people and cultures.

I am deeply committed to my own ongoing inner work of building greater self-awareness and compassion for others. I see working on ourselves as a courageous journey that is inextricably linked to our work to bring about greater justice in the world.

Some of my favourite books: Adrienne Maree Brown's "Emergent Strategy", Arundhati Roy's "The God of Small Things", Tyson Yunkaporta's "Sand Talk", Johann Hari's "Lost Connections",  Resma Menakem's "My Grandmother's Hands", Kazu Haga's "Healing Resistance", Rutger Bregman's "Humankind a Hopeful History", Glennon Doyle's "Untamed", Arnold Mindell's "Sitting in the Fire", Bessel Van Der Kolk's "The Body Keeps the Score", and Brene Brown's "Atlas of the Heart".

Some of my favourite podcasts: Prentis Hemphill’s “Finding Our Way”, Brene Brown’s “Unlocking Us” and “Dare to Lead”, Glennon Doyle’s “We Can Do Hard Things”, and Maya Shankar’s “A Slight Change of Plans”.

Some of my favourite poets: Ocean Vuong, Joy Harjo, Mary Oliver, Rumi, Naomi Shihab Nye, Rilke, Wendell Berry, James Pearson.

Some philosophies/paradigms/frameworks I draw on in my work: Process-Work / Process-Oriented Psychology, John Paul Lederach's critical yeast principles for transforming conflict and social change, Deep Democracy, Taoism, Buddhism, Non-violent Communication, Emergent Strategy, Glen Ochre's "Community of Selves", the Ayni Institute's Movement Ecology approach, the Cynefin framework for working with complexity, systems thinking.

Statement of Collective Authorship

The words expressed in the writing and poetry on this site are mine, but they are not only mine. I express my deepest thanks and pay tribute to the countless sources who inspire and shape all of my thoughts and work. These include but are not limited to friends, mentors, colleagues, and family members; the rich and varied expressions of the natural world - the trees, bodies of water, animals and vast expanses of sky; the wisdom of First Nations people; and the many writers, activists, poets, artists, community leaders and change-makers whose work I’ve been blessed to bear witness to and learn from.

I meet and work on the land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. I pay respects to their Elders, past, and present. This land is stolen land. Sovereignty was never ceded. There can be no genuine and enduring justice without justice for First Nations people.
